Part 17 – Oh Happy Day!

This was the day that 3 of the Bergman family was looking forward to. This was Epcot day! Lisa was excited about the day because she was partially fulfilling a dream: getting up close with a dolphin. #1S was excited because he was getting a new toy: Pal Mickey. I was excited because I was getting to go to Epcot: my favorite of all Disney parks. #2S was just there. And would get worse as the day went on. Dumm-dumm-duh-dummmmm (in a deep, foreboding way). Well we were all up and at ‘em relatively early. Just because we needed to get away. But only to the Mercantile. See, we are fairly clear on money issues with our boys. We work their little behinds off. But we pay them. And the months leading up to Disney, they had worked hard. Plus they got a little bonus before we left. We also set some rules. Rule #1 – no junk (even if it Disney). This meant no plastic spinny-whrily-lighty-uppy thingy’s. Rule #2 – no buying anything until the third day. If they saw some...

Part 16 – Where’d that water come from?

We walked out of Indy, disillusioned on my part, but hungry. The buffet had worn off. It was time for munchies crunchies. We had an ADR at Mama Melrose’s for about 2 hours from this point. That wouldn’t work. But Sci-Fi was right around the corner (so to speak). We headed around to the Sci-Fi and walked up. I asked, “Would it be possible to get a lunch?” “Sure,” says the hostess, “I will be a few minutes.” So I’m thinking 10-15 minutes. There was line of folks there. They were seated all around the entryway. So we stood there for couple of minutes (literally 2-3 minutes) and we got called. Before all of those other folks sitting there. I think the big difference between us and them, we were car-booth snobs. We just wanted some lunch and any sit down space was good. So we got a chair before lots of other people. Sorry. But I have to do a victory dance now. It was short lived, though. #2S went into fit mode. My food was mediocre (ribs again – what can I say, I’m a carnivore). Desert wa...

Part 15 - Go, go Bergbert family

Well it is Tuesday of our vacation, so that means that it is Disney Studios Day. We all get up and around early enough to get to the Studios at rope drop. There was a great family from Great Britain (by their accent) standing with us. They were getting ready to head over to Indy. At rope drop. I don’t normally intrude upon folks’ conversations, but I really felt I should help them out. And when the rope dropped, they stuck with us. Like I knew what I was doing. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that our plans for two days in a row had been trashed. But they stuck with us. We got to the street over in front of the ABC Theater and heard the revving of car engine and loud music. It was then that Lightening McQueen came right down the boulevard right in front of us. Very cool. But we didn’t stop for pictures. We had a tour through the stars waiting for us. We got over to Star Tours and there was no one waiting. So we raced through the line. Weird thing, th...

Part 14 – Patriots and Lightbulbs and Wishes, Oh My!

That evening was our Spectro/Fireworks night. I wanted the boys to get rested up for it. We got them to lay down for a while. I was all about finding a way onto the internet. But no such luck. It wouldn’t let me on. And I was late on posting the next chapter. I need to keep the audience engaged. And Lisa told me to do a post per day. Deadlines. After resting up, we got ready to head to the Kingdom again. We got on the boat to the MK. But it was later in the day. So we took the LOOOOONG way around. It was the late enough that they were in the park emptying pattern. That means we had to go to Ft. Wilderness and then to MK. I was cranky. The Contemporary boat was leaving at the same time, and it would have us at the dock in no time. We could have been in the park that much sooner. Oh, well. We did have one blessed moment on the boat journey to MK, though. Once we, finally, got to the Magic Kingdom, we headed for Hall of Presidents. I am a history buff. So th...

Part 13 – Would it really kills us to follow a plan?

The next day was Animal Kingdom day. So we got up to get ready to head out. In the process of getting ready, I discover the first horrible mistake of the day. Today is Extra Magic Hour Entry at AK. Why is that a mistake you ask? Because I planned it that way and then forgot it. So the plan was for getting to AK for EMH and rocking along. We didn’t get to AK until about 8:30 (30 minutes late in the plan). I was headed to Everest for a FastPass. The line was only 10 minutes, but Lisa and boys were on Kilimanjaro and I wanted pics of the animals. That’s why we went early. To find the critters. And shoot them. With a camera. So I grab my FastPass and head back toward the safari. I stopped to takes some pics and checked my phone. Hmmmm. Missed call. Who could it be? Why, it’s my lovely wife. “Hi, it’s a 30 minute line. We’ll wait for you.” I call back, “No, go ahead and go.” I waited for them at the end. And waited. And traded a pin. And waited. And watched fo...
